Hi Girls-
Here's some information regarding the combined YM/YW activity on THURSDAY, January 29th from 6:30-7:45. We will all meet at the Lake City Branch of the Seattle Public Library. Your parents will need to drop you off and pick you up at the library--we won't be at the church at all. We will meet in the conference room at the library and we'll be doing family history on the new.familysearch.org website. Everyone needs to bring their laptops to use and also the card they were given at the fireside that has their membership # and their confirmation date. If you have any questions please contact Sister Blaylock.
Hi Girls-
Sister Loganimoce here. Your leaders and I thought this might be a good way to keep you posted on all that is going on with the Young Women's program. We will let you know about upcoming activities, important reminders and information, quotes and talks of interest, and even post up pictures of all of you at our activities. We also hope that you will contribute comments and thoughts to different posts so that we can all share and grow together in the Gospel.
As always, I am always open to new and creative ideas that I can make this blog better, and more interesting to all of you girls, so please feel free to tell me or send me an email with your thoughts.
Yours, Sister L.

Virture... a new Young Women's value
The first Sunday of December we all got to stand together and recite our Young Women's theme. I got a little tongue tied though, because we have a new value to add in to the mix. The new value is Virtue! The General Young Women Presidency had this to say about the importance of this new value:
Return to Virtue "Now is the time for a return to virtue!"
The attribute and value of Virtue has been added to the Young Women theme. "Virtue is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards. It encompasses chastity and moral purity."
The time has come for the young women of the Church to lead the world in a return to virtue. This is the time to be pure and to qualify for the guidance of the Holy Ghost. In the coming year, it is our desire that all young women and their leaders focus on the meaning of virtue, what young women can do to accept and act upon this value, and how this attribute can strengthen young women as they prepare to be worthy to make and keep sacred covenants and receive temple ordinances.
We will distribute through local priesthood leaders and also post online the Personal Progress value experiences and projects associated with this value. We desire all young women to complete and be recognized for completing this value, in addition to the seven values listed in the Personal Progress book. You may want to study the following scriptural references as you contemplate a return to virtue.
"I believe one virtuous young woman led by the Spirit can change the world."
More information about the new value and what it means can be found by clicking here.

Happy New Year!
Hi Girls! Welcome back from the crazy winter break that we had. The snow was fun, but got pretty crazy at times. I am happy that it has melted off the street and I can finally get to the gas station without worrying my car is going to get stuck!
This year's Young Women Theme is: "Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12). This month our lessons and activities will focus on being an example. I hope you take some time this month and think about the kind of example you want to be to your family and friends. I know that I always have some room for improvement. :)
Here are some links of talks that are about being an example. I hope you like them!
1. The Prophet Joseph Smith- Teacher by Example
2. Examples of Righteousness
3. Be Thou an Example
